When Can You Start Making Purchases for Florida PEP Reimbursement?

You can buy between July 1 and June 30, but only after your SLP is approved. Purchases before approval are permanently ineligible.

You can make PEP-eligible purchases between July 1 and June 30 of the scholarship year, but only after your Student Learning Plan (SLP) has been approved. Purchases made before your SLP is approved are permanently ineligible, even if the item itself qualifies.

The Purchase Window

The Florida PEP scholarship year runs July 1 through June 30. Any receipts dated outside this window are not reimbursable. This catches families who buy curriculum in June for the "upcoming" year: those purchases fall into the next scholarship year's window, not the current one.

The SLP Requirement: The Most Common Gotcha

Many families make back-to-school purchases in July or August before their SLP is approved. If your receipt is dated before your SLP approval date:

How to Protect Yourself

  1. Submit your SLP application first, before planning any purchases.
  2. Wait for your official approval email before buying anything.
  3. Screenshot your SLP approval confirmation showing the exact date.
  4. Keep that screenshot with your receipt records for the year.

Pro tip: The school year ends June 30, but you have until July 31 to submit reimbursement requests. Don't confuse the purchase deadline with the submission deadline.

Missing the SLP approval date or accidentally buying before it can cost hundreds of dollars with no recourse. Florida PEP Tracker shows your SLP status, purchase window start, and submission deadlines all on one dashboard.
